Security Meet Completed in Lumbini
LUMBINI: Lumbini, the holy birthplace of the Buddha is ever a peaceful and safe destination. Nevertheless, Lumbini Development Trust has been more sensitive in the wake of Bodh Gaya blast. Security has been tightened in and around Lumbini to ensure peace in the world heritage site. Furthermore, the Trust in close coordination with government’s security agencies is preparing and implementing effective security plan to protect archaeological and historical sites in the region.
The Trust organized security meeting with Nepal Police on 30th July and with Armed Police Force on the 31st. The combined meeting of the LDT, Nepal Police and APF was held on 1st August 2013. The meeting concluded following issues to be administered to guaranty the safety and security of Lumbini, the world heritage site and its peripherals in Rupandehi, Kapilavastu and Nawalparasi district associated with the life of the Buddha.
Hon. Acharya Karma Sangbo Sherpa, the Vice Chairman of the Trust opened the floor after his short welcome speech. He persuaded the participants for bringing out an effective conclusion as short-term, mid-term and long-term security plan. Member Secretary Mr. Ajitman Tamang remarked on unparalleled significance of the Buddhist sites lying the western terai of Nepal calling the it “the land of Buddhas. SSP Mingmar Lama, the Police Chief of Lumbini Zone presented security plan to safeguard important Buddhist sites scattered in the three districts. He presented an extensive security plan with specific policing categories for collection and analysis of information, tourist service, VIP security, crime and event control, technical team, traffic management etc. SP Bikram Singh Thapa, the Police Chief of Rupandehi disctrict, SP Rabindra Prasad Sharma, the Police Chief of Kapilavastu disctrict, SP Bishnu Hari Gautam, the Police Chief of Nawalparasi disctrict put their comment on the SSP’s security plan.
DSP Top Bahadur Dangi, the Lumbini APF Basecamp Chief and SP Bhesh Bahadur Shah, the Rupandehi APF Chief collectively presented Lumbini security plan. Likewise, SP Padam Singh Ayer, the APF Chief of Kapilavastu and SP Rishi Dev Karki, the APF Chief of Nawalparasi remarked on the presentations. DSP Govinda Bahadur Basnet also was present in the meeting.
Hon. Om Pd Aryal, the Treasurer, Mr. Hari D. Rai, the Information Chief, Mr. Chudamani Bhattarai, the Administrative Officer and Mr. Khagendra Kafle, the Acting Security Chief of the Trust also commented on the presentations and suggested their view for effective security system in the region.
